Alyssa - The Dreamer | RaiofSunshines

(Photo above by Jason Lanier Photography)
Alyssa was one of the first people I met in high school. We were in the same roll call class and as the scared year 7's we were decided to sit beside each other and not speak. haha Alyssa's first memory of me is when she noticed I had a chocolate wrapper tapped to my diary. (I really like chocolate guys arrest me haha). After talking we immediately became fast friends and she is my constant best friend in the chaos of life. I really don't know what I would do without her. I can imagine growing old together on rocking chairs gossiping about the others in the nursing home haha.

Alyssa is the last of this years Rai of Sunshines series which I hope I might continue next year. In the meantime meet my "bae"

Alyssa | The Dreamer

What are your greatest desires and dreams?
More than anything, I want to help people that do not have the means to help themselves. I want to make a difference, a positive one. I want to know that when I'm older, I have made a positive impact; left a foot print so to speak. I also want to travel a lot and see the world. There is so much t see out there and so little time to see it all. Being able to travel and cause a positive change would be my greatest desire of all.

What kind of legacy do you want to leave? Do you want to leave one at all?
I definitely want to leave a legacy. I feel very passionate towards issues of social justice and human rights, both of which are fields I can see myself working in, in the future. I really look up to activists such as Gillian Triggs and Michael Kirby and aspire to follow in their footsteps. They have both done amazing work and have exposed many truths that need to be addressed by governments, yet neither have backed down when things get a little difficult or their careers are on the line. They both have stood up for issues that they believe in and I aspire to at least attempt to do the same.

What is your proudest or happiest moment?
I have two. My acceptance into law school this year and competing against my piano teacher's son in a Piano Eisteddfod back in 2004 and winning first place. Her reaction was priceless hehe

How do you stay motivated?
Motivation is not easy. When I lose focus I tend to motivate myself by thinking of the end result. I also try to find little things to look forward to each week whether it be meeting friends for drinks, catching up on an episode of Parenthood or just painting my nails, if I have something to look forward to it makes tedious tasks a little more bearable. On the other hand, I won't lie; I procrastinate A LOT.

How do you juggle University, jobs and friends? Any tricks of the trade?
I suck at this. Generally when things get busy, my social life is first to abandon ship closely followed by my job. I've always tried to put University first (sorry friends!) as much as possible in the hope that it will pay off in the long run.

What is one of the life lessons you have learned so far?
Once again I have two: Always appreciate what you have, and a smile can go a long way.

What would you do now if you could not fail?
Such a world this would be! If I could not fail I would continue through law school with a carefree attitude and a lot less stress (a lot less). Then I would probably apply for a job as President of the United Nations Human Rights Council then proceed to accept my Nobel Peace Prize. Okay. So realistically. I would do everything I could to solve world peace. There is a lot of work that needs to be done on the front of international relations so perhaps I would begin there and see how things go.

So there is my beautiful Alyssa! The last Rai of Sunshine for the year! I'll have a re-cap next month but I really hope you enjoyed this series!

Let me know what you think below!

Love Always,
